Armor, from the Amazon.

Genuine pirarucu over a leather sole — square toe, 1.5" stacked heel, plush leather lining. Pirarucu is a river fish that outgrows a grown man, and its scales evolved to turn a piranha bite. Big, overlapping, hard as a fingernail. Deep brown vamp against a lighter shaft.

Handcrafted in León, Guanajuato.

  • Genuine pirarucu — not printed, not embossed
  • Plush leather lining
  • 1.5" Stacked leather heel
  • Double-stitched welt
  • Square toe
  • Orders ship in 1–2 days

Fit: our men's boots run one size big. Order one size down from your usual.

No two pairs are alike. Scale size and pattern shift from fish to fish, and color takes differently across every scale. That's the nature of the animal.

The Story

Exotic boots ain't new money.

Long before anybody called it fashion, a man in a norteño town saved for one good pair and wore them to everything that mattered. Weddings, bautizos, the dance, his daughter's quinceañera. The boots said something before he opened his mouth. They still do.

That language never left. You see it at Traders Village on a Saturday — somebody walks in wearing python and the whole room clocks it.

We stock exotics because of that, and we'll always tell you which is which. Genuine is marked genuine. Print is marked print. What you paid for is what's on your foot.

Handmade in León, Guanajuato — where these boots came from the whole time.

Craft & Materials

The Skin

Genuine pirarucu. Not printed, not embossed — the actual skin, tanned and cut by hand. Scale pattern, size, and color vary from pair to pair because no two animals are identical.

The Sole

Leather sole with a leather stacked heel and durable rubber cap. 1.5" heel.

The Build

Double-stitched welt. Square toe. Full leather lining. Built to be resoled.

The Hands

Cut, lasted, and finished in León, Guanajuato. Exotic skins take a bootmaker longer — the scale pattern has to be matched across the vamp and up the shaft, and there's no second chance on a hide this expensive.

Fit

Our men's boots run one size big. Order one size down from your usual.

Product Care

Genuine pirarucu over a leather sole. Exotic skin rewards care and punishes neglect.

Moisture

  • Keep them dry. Exotic skin stains and stiffens when soaked
  • If wet, blot immediately and air dry at room temperature, away from heat
  • Never use direct heat

The Skin

  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing
  • Use a conditioner formulated for exotic skins, sparingly, a few times a year
  • Never use standard shoe polish or saddle soap — it fills the scale seams and dulls the finish
  • Do not scrub against the scale direction; you can lift a scale and it won't lie back down

Storage

  • Boot trees, always — creasing across scale is permanent
  • Store upright, out of direct sunlight; exotic skin fades faster than cowhide
  • Let them rest a day between wears

A pair of exotics is a lifetime boot if you treat it like one.
