Genuine American alligator over a leather sole — square toe, 1.5" stacked heel, plush leather lining. Belly cut, which is the tile everybody's after: clean, symmetrical, no bone under the scale. Look for the umbilical scar at the center of the vamp — that's how you know it's gator and not caiman.

Handcrafted in León, Guanajuato.

The Story

The one you buy once.

American alligator sits at the top of every exotic list, and unlike most things at the top, it earned the spot on merit. The belly tile is bigger and cleaner than caiman, there's no bone in the scale so it stays supple, and a pair that's cared for will outlast the man who bought it.

Here's the part nobody in this business mentions. The American alligator was on the endangered list in 1967. It came off in 1987, recovered — and regulated harvest is a large part of why. Once the hide was worth something, the wetlands the alligator needed were worth protecting too. Landowners across Louisiana had a reason tokeep the marsh wet. It's one of the few times this industry canpoint at a species and say it's doing better than when we started.

American hide. Mexican hands. The boot gets built in León, Guanajuato, by people whose families have been making them for three generations.

Craft & Materials

The Skin
Genuine American Alligator. Not printed, not embossed — the actual skin, tanned and cut by hand. Scale pattern, size, and color vary from pair to pair because no two animals are identical.

The Sole
Leather sole with a leather stacked heel and durable rubber cap. 1.5" heel.

The Build
Double-stitched welt. Square toe. Full leather lining. Built to be resoled.

The Hands
Cut, lasted, and finished in León, Guanajuato. Exotic skins take a bootmaker longer — the scale pattern has to be matched across the vamp and up the shaft, and there's no second chance on a hide this expensive.

Product Care

Moisture

  • Keep them dry. Exotic skin stains and stiffens when soaked
  • If wet, blot immediately and air dry at room temperature, away from heat
  • Never use direct heat

The Skin

  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing
  • Use a conditioner formulated for exotic skins, sparingly, a few times a year
  • Never use standard shoe polish or saddle soap — it fills the scale seams and dulls the finish
  • Do not scrub against the scale direction; you can lift a scale and it won't lie back down

Storage

  • Boot trees, always — creasing across scale is permanent
  • Store upright, out of direct sunlight; exotic skin fades faster than cowhide
  • Let them rest a day between wears

A pair of exotics is a lifetime boot if you treat it like one.
